Chocolate Making With Red Letter Days And MyChocolate

Mother’s Day is approaching soon and what better way to celebrate than to share an indulgent experience together. With the help of our friends at Red Letter Days, we recently had the pleasure of discovering the ultimate specialists in chocolate making events and experiences, MyChocolate.

Set between Highbury and Islington and Old Street stations, MyChocolate provides a workshop dedicated to the art of chocolate making in a relaxed and playful environment, and we must admit the experience is definitely an unforgettable one, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Prosecco

We were greeted with a lovely glass of prosecco on arrival and then seated around a large table, we were encouraged to get to know the person sat next to us by introducing ourselves and asking each other what our favourite chocolates are. This certainly set a warm and friendly tone for the evening ahead as we then commenced on a group challenge of making the most delicious chocolate martinis we had ever tasted.

The martini making challenge was fun, engaging and a great bonding experience as we were each given a role in the process. These delightful creations consisted of a concoction of chocolate liqueur and chocolate ganache, before pouring the mix we got to decorate our martini glasses with melted chocolate. Of course the end result was delicious and we were then given a fascinating lesson in the history of chocolate whilst we sipped on these heavenly delights and enjoyed tasting some chocolates.

After that things got messy and very creative to say the least. With the help of the master chocolatier we were given a demonstration and guidance on how to make and decorate our own chocolate slab, which happened to be an interesting combination of orange and plum flavours.

The fun didn’t stop there! We then got to make rich and indulgent truffles, which consisted of fresh cream and melted chocolate combined together to create the most exquisitely tasting ganache centre. After this we coated them cocoa and a choice of milk or dark chocolate ready to be decorated. The ultimate creativity kicked in here as were given a huge variety of delicious toppings to decorate with including sea salt, caramelised nuts, coconut and more.  

We also had the pleasure of cutting and decorating fudge, which we then got to package in beautiful gold boxes to take away with us.

The session ended as sweetly as it started with wine sampling. We were given two different wines so that we could see how each accompanied different types of chocolate. The port went deliciously with the dark chocolate, whilst we discovered muscat went down a treat with sweet chocolate. 

We found the whole experience to be a great way of unwinding and relaxing in a fun and creative environment and would definitely recommend as a perfect outing for Mother’s Day.
