Join the art movement this summer for a new take on prints. For the new launch of AW14, Havren has come up with its own wearable Matisse inspired print for the coming season.
Pencil skirts just got interesting. Walk around like a Matisse masterpiece with Havren's Floral Cotton Canvas Skirt, £89. Transform florals into a piece of modern art. Havren's Floral Cotton Canvas Dress, £139, resembles Henri Matisse's spectacular cut-outs with a bold clementine colour palette.
Henri Matisse is a giant of modern art. Matisse began by ‘carving into colour’ and his series of spectacular cut-outs were born. In his late sixties, when ill health first prevented Matisse from painting, he began to cut into painted paper with scissors to make drafts for a number of commissions. In time, Matisse chose cut-outs over painting: he had invented a new medium. From snowflowers to dancers, circus scenes and a famous snail, he created a dazzling array of work made between 1936 and 1954. Bold, exuberant and often large in scale, the cut-outs have an engaging simplicity coupled with incredible creative sophistication.
With this in mind, our design team have given tribute to the key 'artistic' trend with bright lemon and a bold clementine colour story. This story incorporates the beautiful abstract floral, reminiscent of the shapes key to the great artist himself. They have paired this very bold print with some colourful separates and a softer, pretty daisy print which will work perfectly for a wedding outfit and will remain an easy wardrobe staple for the Autumn and Winter season.
