Now, more than ever, it seems to make more sense to buy less, but better – the best you can possibly afford. Gone are the days of buying something on a whim – everything now has to be truly considered because you have to get real mileage from all of your purchases. Classic or understated doesn’t have to mean a boring white shirt and a pair of black trousers. This season, I have my eyes set on the Black Two-Tone Cady Dress – a must-buy investment piece.
Every woman needs a miracle dress and the directional white panels will inject a contemporary graphic edge into your wardrobe as well as complimenting the ladylike silhouette. I always look for longevity and to have a selection of black dresses for an evening out. I like to update my LBD’s with a pair of great new shoes or a beautiful piece of jewellery.
In terms of shopping: look for pieces that you know will work with what you already have – pieces that are easy, practical and will stand the test of time. It becomes quite a talent; editing your wardrobe, mixing and re-matching a small group of pieces together to get the maximum wear from each. Even though I’m buying less, I definitely spend more when I do buy. It might feel a bit extravagant at the time, but it’s the long-term investment buys that really pay off.
